President’s Message

On behalf of the 2010-2011 Board of Directors, I would like to welcome all prospective and returning singers.  As the new president of the Chorale, I look forward to working for you and with you this concert season.  The Board has been meeting through the summer and has been working diligently to get everything ready for the coming year. We have great music for the Holiday Concert, and an orchestra for the Brahms in the Spring: in my opinion, a season to remember.   Remember the Chorale runs with volunteers so, if you can, please help us out.  We have current openings for the Hospitality and Logistics committees so please consider helping the Chorale by volunteering your time and energy.  I am looking forward to seeing all of you in September and hoping that we see some new faces too. Thanks.

Gary

Thanks To Kai and Jay

We send a big thank-you to Kai and Jay Marchant for hosting our annual year-end party at their beautiful home on the Wye River.  Those of us who attended will agree that it was a terrific party that we all enjoyed.

Board Members – 2010-2011

We are pleased to announce the newest members to our Chorale Board.  They are:  Susan Puddester, Pam Fisher, and Helen Schultz.  The Board for the coming year is as follows:  President Gary Ringold, V.P. Susan Puddester, Recording Secretary Anne Foss, Treasurer Hubert Hoehn.  Board Members-At-Large are Pam Fisher, Heidi Hammock, Kathryn Marchi, Jackie Oren, Tristam Readmond, and Helen Schultz.  Ex-Officio members are Bob Huntington and Kai Marchant.  The Board sincerely thanks the outgoing Board members: Peter Edison, Loretta Pique, and Tom Scull for their dedicated service to the Chorale.

Attendance Policy

Because the Chorale is an ensemble, there is an expectation of 100% attendance at regular Monday night rehearsals.  A singer may miss no more than 3 rehearsals in each of the two semesters.  It will then be at the discretion of the Artistic Director to determine an individual’s readiness to participate in any given concert.  And please make every attempt to be on time and ready to rehearse at 7pm.

And Congratulations Go To…

Eight singers had perfect attendance for the past Spring semester:  Marty Clayton, Donna Eadie, Margie Mechalske, Sandy Palumbo, Bill Morgan, Harl Hockeborn, John Parham, and John Turner.  Bravo to you all!

Chorale Funding

As Tom Scull leaves his post as Treasurer, the Chorale finds itself on  solid footing, financially, thanks in part to his good stewardship, and in part for the incredible effort that you, our members, have made in these difficult economic times.  It has not always been easy, and we find ourselves needing to look to the future cautiously.  There are things that we have done, such as raising the dues last year, and things that will have to be done in the future, in order to continue to be able to bring beautiful choral music to the community.  One thing to keep in mind is that many companies offer a matching gift benefit.  What this means is that they will match dollar for dollar any amount that is given by you.  We have benefitted from this in the past, and it is an easy source of additional revenue for the Chorale.  Check with your employer or former employer (for retirees) to see if such a program exists for you.

The Queen Anne's Chorale is funded in part by directed or designated support from federal employees through the Combined Federal Campaign and grants from the Queen Anne's County Arts Council, and the Maryland State Arts Council, an agency dedicated to cultivating a vibrant cultural community where the arts thrive.
